rugged Oregon coast is home to the ripe red wines and the classic white
wines, like the Pinot Gris and the Pinot Blanc.
Because of the cool climate, the Willamette Valley can boast wines with
flavors of citrus, guava and pear.
The red wines of Oregon often contain hints of cherry, berry and fig.
Inquisitive, adventurous and always interested in a good time, the
personality of the residents is reflected in their wines.
The wines of Oregon are wines you would expect to find from people who
enjoy the out of doors. Claret and Sangiovese are among some of the more
interesting wines that Oregon has to offer.
Several wineries are nestled between the Cascade Mountains and the Coast
Range. Other vineyards can be found up north in the Columbia Valley,
while even more vineyards can be found in the southern region of the
Rogue Valley. In total, Oregon boasts over 125 wineries.
The cool, mild weather has done wonders for Cabernet Franc and Syrah
vines.
Although Oregon has long been associated with Pinot Noir, it is now
becoming known for a much wider repertoire. Oregon now boasts many
varieties of wine.
The longer summers I southern Oregon produce fruit that has a much
different taste than do the grapes that are grown in the northern
valleys. Oregon is a land of contrasts and vitality.
